Who we are.

Established in 1978 as one of the first commercial asbestos consultancies in the UK, ACS was also amongst the first UK organisations to achieve UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for asbestos testing and surveying and is firmly placed as one of the UK’s leading consultancies in asbestos related research, management, remediation project management, testing, training and expert witness services. 

In 1998, the Company extended its services to include Health & Safety, Environmental and Waste Risk Management and is now regarded as a leader in professional, technical and training services in the area of ‘Physical Risk Management’. In 2006 ACS Marine Risk Control was also established and subsequent additions to the Group include SafetyYouTrustTM and ACS Learning Academy.

For almost 4 decades, the Company has operated throughout the UK, Canada, USA, Europe, Middle East, Africa, India, Japan, Australia, the Falkland Islands and Turkey. In 2016 ACS established a presence in Istanbul to assist in the development of the emerging physical risk management sector.

ACS is relatively unique in being well positioned to offer the full range of professional, technical and training services required to provide total risk management support in the areas of Asbestos, Health & Safety, Environmental and Waste Management.

ACS holds United Kingdom Accreditation Service accreditation (UKAS Ref No’s 0144 and 0676) for:

The Position

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced (CMIOSH) H&S Consultant to work within the H&S section of our small but specialised SHE Division. This will involve the provision of a wide range of professional and technical Health, Safety and Welfare related consultancy services (from policy development, management systems, auditing and advice through to technical risk assessing) and the delivery of our range of IOSH accredited plus bespoke courses, seminars and workshops across Scotland (although largely focussed in the Glasgow area). A significant part of this role will involve the auditing of safety management systems with the housing sector and the provision of consultancy, advice and support to housing associations. The position will report to the Head of SHE but will also entail close working with Directors (Prof Roger Willey and Martin Mitchell), who also form part of the SHE team where higher level consultancy work and expert witness services are required.


It is our aim to appoint a candidate with the potential and desire to forge a long-term career path within the ACS Group over the coming years.


Candidate Requirements

ACS is well known for the quality of its consultancy and training and Prof Roger Willey is a renowned speaker/trainer. The successful candidate will, therefore, have the competence to deliver the full spectrum of professional and technical aspects expected of a competent H&S Consultant as well as the ability to work within a high-paced consultancy company. The candidate will be a CMIOSH qualified H&S Practitioner with the ability to deal with the wide range of technical topics expected in the consultancy world.
