ACS supports Mavis Nye Foundation

ACS has become a proud supporter and sponsor of "The Mavis Nye Foundation Cycle Club Events" launched by UKATA that will take place from June-October 2022. The Mavis Nye Foundation was created to inspire victims of mesothelioma, an asbestos related terminal Cancer and to give hope to fellow victims and show a light at the end of the tunnel.

"The Mavis Nye Foundation’s primary aim is to raise funds to support a dedicated mesothelioma nurse and with mesothelioma being a terminal and devastating diagnosis, we need more research and trials for treatment."

In 1977 Prof. Roger Willey began his journey to work on developing tests to identify asbestos. In 1978, ACS was established as one of the first commercial asbestos consultancies in the UK. ACS was amongst the first UK organisations to achieve UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation for asbestos testing and surveying and is firmly placed as one of the UK’S leading consultancies in asbestos related research, management, remediation project management, testing, training and expert witness services.

ACS is relatively unique in being well positioned to offer the full range of professional, technical and training services required to provide total risk management support in the areas of Asbestos, Health & Safety, Environmental and Waste Management.

ACS Managing Director, Prof. Roger Willey is a founder member of the United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) holding a position on the UKATA executive committee. Roger is an expert on asbestos, hazardous materials and health and safety and environmental issues. When it was discovered that asbestos exposure has adverse effect on human health, and is associated with lung cancer and mesothelioma, Roger was determined to leave a lifelong footprint by demonstrating how to change work practices and people’s mindset towards this hidden killer. Roger’s research saves around 150 people per annum in the U.K. alone, and his mission is to continue to educate, support and most importantly-save as many more people as possible.

Mavis and Roger first met at a large conference where they were both speaking, and they have crossed paths many times ever since.  Needless to say, Mavis’s journey has left a truly moving and inspiring impact. It is for that reason that ACS is a proud supporter and sponsor of ‘The Mavis Nye Foundation Cycle Club (MNFCC)’.
