Choosing a Fire Risk Assessor

Choosing a Fire Risk Assessor

There is no mandatory qualification for fire risk assessors so how do you know who is 'good'? ACS's advice is that if you are looking to appoint a competent Fire Risk Assessor you need to look for SKATE in Fire Safety (skills, knowledge, attitude, training & experience). You should also ask them about the process they use to risk assess,  expertise of the sector / building type and a robust assessment model (be cautious of 'tick box' assessments). At ACS we have developed a method for Fire Risk Assessments that combines a Fire Assessor's expert analysis with that of a Structural Engineer. This is especially effective when assessing both operational and structural issues in multi-storey flats and housing blocks.
